A piece of a whole

A Piece of a Whole is a series of 37 individual works, each presenting a photographic fragment that suggests part of a larger, incomplete puzzle. The images originate from a room in a house where I once lived, later demolished. The objects once contained in that space were dispersed—given away, donated, or discarded—leaving only partial traces of their former context. By reconstructing what no longer physically exists, the project reflects on how memory, like domestic space, breaks apart and continually reshapes itself over time.
The installation evokes the atmosphere of a thrift shop, where unrelated objects temporarily coexist. The gray-toned works, layered with translucent surfaces, are displayed on narrow wall-mounted shelves. Nearby, an ornate shelf holds a transparent cube containing a personal object and a photographic image of the homeowner, subtly revealing what usually remains unseen and restoring a sense of intimate origin within dispersion.
